Hammond is a specialist in teacher education and talked about the possible reasons that led Finland and other high-achieving nations (e.g. Korea, Japan, Singapore) to such high scoring in pisa test results. A possible reason suggested by Linda is sustained learning opportunities embedded in practice. Other issues she tackled:
  • strategies to improve teaching (e.g. expert mentoring and coaching)
  • features of effective induction (e.g. engagement in collaborative curriculum planning, reduced teaching workload, administrative support)
  • professional learning opportunities connected to teachers' collaborative work in professional learning communities (e.g. learning about practice in practice project)
